Ask Francesco Bonfanti why he has so much passion for those engines, for their lines, their history. The firstborn son of the renowned Gigi Bonfanti, he has been running the garage for more than twenty years. A “profession” that borders on the “visceral”, made up of assiduous analyses, complex research and an extensive network of contacts that often turn into great friendships.
Francesco said his first words next to his father who was sat at the steering wheel of an Alfa Romeo of the 1930s; he took his first steps surrounded by glorious motor cars. From early on he understood that these elegant “beauties” were the world’s most perfect toys.
The Bonfanti Garage prepares cars for Concours d'Elegance and prestige motor car competitions, from the Mille Miglia to the most influential events. Here, engines and mechanical components are repaired and fine tuned, complete mechanics are overhauled - gearbox, transmission, suspensions… Here, restoration means that before hands are laid on the car, the historical context is examined, the technical archives are consulted and the necessary documentation is collected so that the esthetical aspect as well as the particular historical value of the vehicle are respected in irreproachable fashion.
Thanks to a host of associates Bonfanti Garage also offers a “key in hand” service, where the vehicle is delivered skilfully restored in all aspects. It is the work of a team that is made up of highly specialised coachworks, who use the old-established methods of planishing by hand, and of upholsterers and electricians who specialise in the use of methods and materials of the relevant eras.
Italian craftsmanship continues to create formidable excellence.
